We’ve updated copainter’s background removal AI.
With this update, the accuracy of character background cutouts has been significantly improved.
Background removal is a subtle but time-consuming process. At copainter, our goal is to let creators “move on to the next task quickly, without overthinking,” so we’ve focused on refining and improving this feature.
How to Use the Background Removal AI
The Background Removal AI is a tool available after using any of copainter’s AI features.
Click the Background Removal button located directly below the post-generation screen (see Screen 1). The control panel will turn pink; then click the Send button (see Screen 2).
Running the AI consumes one ticket.
Designed to Be More Useful for Character Creation
This Background Removal AI is especially intended for the following use cases:
- Creating standing character illustrations
- Producing assets for games, VTubers, and livestreaming
- Cutting out AI-generated characters for use as background characters in manga or animation
In AI-assisted production workflows, background illustrations can often get in the way of the creative process. By enabling a workflow where you “remove the background first, then think,” creators can significantly improve efficiency and enjoy a smoother creative experience.

In the future, we plan to release an AI that not only removes backgrounds, but also separates characters into individual layers.
